Good morning, Caffeinators☀️
Today’s Starting Sips:
🚨 100K GPT Accounts were Hacked
🍎 OpenAI’s App Store
🇺🇸 Biden Chats with AI Experts
Group IB just dropped a bombshell: over 100,000 ChatGPT accounts have been raided from June 2022 to May 2023. They are found for sale on the dark web.
Here's what happened:
GPT accounts were compromised and sold on dark markets
Infamous digital pickpockets (Raccoon, RedLine, and Vidar) are the main suspects
A whopping 12,632 filched credentials traced their origins back to India
This cyber heist has rung alarm bells. What can we do? Beef up our password. Be mindful of 3rd party plug-ins. Enable two-factor authentication.
Please. Please enable 2FA.
Although OpenAI does not have 2FA, don’t panic yet. If you sign in with Google/Microsoft accounts, you’re safe. Follow these steps to enable it.

There will soon be an "app store of AI" — OpenAI is building a marketplace for GPT plugins and AI models.
OpenAI, the driving force behind the AI revolution, is shifting gears by developing a platform similar to Apple's App Store or Amazon's marketplace.
This AI app store is where developers can upload their AI models. Or, provide extra services (plug-ins) for GPT. Kind of like a digital farmer's market for AI.
The importance? It's getting crowded in the AI world, with finding the right tool becoming increasingly complex. OpenAI's marketplace plans to be the metal detector in the haystack, streamlining the AI tool search while ensuring security and efficiency.

After Altman testified before Congress last month, AI is the only thing our government talks about. This time, the White House chimes in too.
President Joe Biden will meet with several AI experts to discuss the potential and pitfalls of AI.
Experts are from many multi-million dollar companies, including the Center for Humane Technology, Common Sense Media, Khan Academy, and the Algorithmic Justice League.
The big question: How will the government tackle the notorious AI threats we often talk about?
🐣 Tweet of the Day

Is your GPT account safe? Not according to Group IB.
How can you improve?
