Sam Altman warns Senate 🔔
On March 16th, the Senate summoned Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, to the stand. The pressing matter at hand? The potential trials and tribulations that we might face with future AI technology.

I like how all Tech CEOs have a Congress photo like this 😆
I watch the 3hr testimony so you don’t have to 😄
The OpenAI Hearing: A "Polite Tuesday" 📜
Defying past tech-politics face-offs such as Google's privacy grilling and Facebook's data misuse debacle, this hearing was refreshingly civil. Altman's plea? Tighter regulation and safety checks for AI applications.
AI can go wrong, and quite wrong

The Dystopian Potential of AI & Job Apocalypse 🌆
The hearing primarily addressed the dystopian risks associated with advanced AI and its potentially destabilizing effects on the job market. Imagine using GPT as a base model and training it with malicious intent - a chilling thought indeed!
It is true that AI will replace a lot of jobs, but it also has the potential to create jobs. Think back to the industrial revolution or the age when the internet became prevalent. The overall efficiency of humans increased by tens to hundreds of magnitudes! With AI, it might be surprisingly similar.

An AI takeover of jobs, closer than we think? 🫠
The Misinformation Menace 📰
One largely overlooked issue is the problem of AI-fuelled misinformation. Imagine AI-generated videos of politicians delivering completely falsified speeches. It is already hard enough to not be fooled by deep-fakes and edited pictures/videos, so how will we decipher what is true once powerful AI gets into people’s hands?

The Age Dilemma for Lawmakers 👨🎓🕰️
Did you know the average age of a US Congress member is 65.3 years old? For many, that is grandparent age. So as much as the public bases lawmakers for being lax on AI oversight, can we realistically expect people that grew up without the internet to grasp just how dangerous AI technology can become? Let alone asking them how to regulate it.
We all had a chuckle when Congress tried to get a grip on social media during the Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO) and Shou Zi Chew (TikTok CEO) hearings.
This time around, they're dealing with LLMs - a far more complex beast. It's a daunting challenge, but let’s not give up hope on lawmakers and rather encourage them to rise to the challenge!
Ahhhh reminiscing 😂 Can’t wait for the LLM sequel 👀🍿

Wendy + Bard = Frustration!!!
Wendy’s Drives into the Future with LLM 🚗🍔
Wendy's is taking fast food into the future. From June 2023, Wendy's will use chatbots, not humans, at their drive-thrus in Columbus, Ohio.
That’s in only 13 days!!! I’m glad I’m not the developer working on it 😮💨
Google's Bard: Wendy’s New Chatbot 🤖
In collaboration with Google, Wendy’s is fine-tuning Bard, Google's LLM, to suit their drive-thru lingo.
Frosty ➡️ Milkshake
JBC ➡️ Junior bacon cheeseburger
Now I know what many of you are thinking: time to go screw with the fast food AI. You might be surprised to hear that this chatbot is at least partially designed to handle little devils like you 👿
Wendy’s noted that Bard will be specially trained to distinguish between voices. So, if you're a mom with three rowdy kids in the backseat or maybe a DD taking some intoxicated friends home, then rest assured because the bot will only accept orders from you, not your “kids”.

Sorry kids, Mom's the boss here! 😅
A Future Without Humans? Not Quite 🙅♂️
Despite the futuristic leap, Wendy’s assures workers their roles are secure. Although they did not specify what the workers who currently take orders will do instead, it’s reasonable to assume that the bot won’t be perfect. Most likely, people will still be needed just to ensure things are working and issues are resolved.
The move might seem progressive, but let's not forget: voice recognition technology, like Alexa, still stutters at "turn off the lights" in a quiet room. So, a bot in a bustling drive-thru? Well, we wish you the best with that Wendy’s.

Uh...can you repeat that? 🤔

If you love to cook, but don’t know what to cook, or maybe have some food that is about to go bad, then try asking GPT for recipe suggestions with you got around!
I have 2 onions, 1.5 pounds of ground beef, 3 potatoes, and some vegetables. Please provide me a recipe for dinner.
Plug that prompt into GPT, and Voila!

The detailed instructions continue until step 11.
It even gives you suggestions on seasoning too! “Consider adding a bit of paprika, cumin, or garlic powder to elevate the taste“ — GPT
Now, that sounds delicious 😋
